  John Prideaux is the US editor, having joined The Economist as a political correspondent in 2004. Prior to this he contributed to The Economist, Financial Times and New Statesman, and worked as a researcher in the House of Commons and the European Parliament. His career at the paper includes Washington correspondent, Brazil correspondent in São Paulo, home-page editor of Economist.com and head of podcasting. Mr Prideaux regularly appears as a commentator in the media, notably BBC, CNN, Fox News and NPR. He was educated at Cambridge University and the Sorbonne.

  Charlotte Howard is the Executive editor and New York bureau chief and co-host of the Checks and Balance podcast. Prior to this, she served as The Economist's Energy editor, writing about the global energy sector and climate policy. In other beats she has covered consumer goods and retail, the global health-care industry and politics and policy in America’s Midwest. She joined The Economist in 2004 and is a graduate of Yale University.

  Washington bureau chief

  Idrees Kahloon is the Washington bureau chief for The Economist and leads coverage of the White House, Congress and national politics. Prior to that, he was the Washington correspondent and US policy correspondent. He began at The Economist as a data journalist in London. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in applied mathematics and economics.

  Adam O’Neal is the Washington correspondent for The Economist. Prior to joining the newspaper in September 2023, he was executive editor of the Dispatch. He spent most of his career at the Wall Street Journal as an editorial page writer in London and an assistant editorial features editor in New York. He also has worked as a radio producer in Los Angeles and Vatican reporter in Rome.
